On 19/10/1984, part of a plot of land in Ayia Napa was expropriated to widen the road network.
The District Land Registry of Famagusta sent to the owners of the property an offer for zero (LK 0) compensation for the expropriation.
The owners, since the offer of compensation was zero, did not take any action and put their offer in the drawer.
In 2013, after securing legal advice from their lawyer Mr. Michalis A. Dilinos, they decided to take the matter to Court to secure a fair amount of compensation for the expropriation of part of their property in 1984.
After 7 years of legal dispute, a decision was issued by the District Court where it held that after 36 years from the day the expropriation happened, the owners of the property will receive the amount of One Hundred Fifty-Five Thousand Euros (€155,000).
